Global health action special issue

Global Health Action journal - special issue with After the End

A call for papers on

Resilience in the Aftermath of Crises: Health Systems, Communities, and Global Health Equity.

has been launched for a special issue of the journal Global Health Action, with editors for the special issue including members of the After the End research group.

May 2026

‍This Call for Papers builds on emerging conceptual work on the “afterlives of crises” and post-crisis temporality, highlighting how crises do not simply end but continue to shape institutions, infrastructures, and lived experiences long after the acute emergency phase has subsided.

The call invites contributions that explore post-crisis health landscapes, with a focus on resilience, equity, and recovery across diverse global settings. Research is welcomed from low-, middle-, and high-income countries that sheds light on lessons learned, structural barriers, community-led innovations, policy solutions, and new theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding recovery in a globalised world.

Submission deadline: Rolling submissions accepted until December 31, 2026

Expected publication date: Articles will be published online on a rolling basis as part of the Open Call for Papers

For more information on the scope and themes, and how to submit your paper please visit the announcement here'.
